Throngs of people have rushed to the airport in the hopes of fleeing Afghanistan after the Taliban’s rapid takeover of the country. Evacuation flights are being conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, and government officials estimate that tens of thousands of people, including families, are trying to leave the country. After news of “Operation Varsity Blues” broke in March, California legislators introduced several bills aimed at reforming the admissions process and leveling the playing field. Assemblymember Phil Ting’s bill, AB 697, which require colleges to share information about their admissions process, was approved by the State Assembly on Tuesday. The bill was then sent to Newsom, who will have until October 13 to act on it. If signed into law, it would go into effect on January 1....

The Federal Bureau of Prisons released a public statement saying that Floyd, a 35-year-old black man, died on Wednesday after exhibiting “disruptive” and “potentially harmful” behavior. He reportedly had barricaded himself in his cell. Staff then used pepper spray in an effort to subdue the inmate. Floyd became unresponsive and medical staff were called to the cell to try to save his life. He was then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the hospital staff....

News of the suit against Gaetz was tweeted by activist Scott Dworkin who, in an echo of Gaetz’s tweet, referred to it as breaking news. “Breaking: The Miami-Dade Democratic Party just filed a Florida bar complaint on GOP @RepMattGaetz for ‘grave misconduct.’ Verifying Dworkin’s announcement, the Miami-Dade Democratic Party tweeted, “Yes we did.” According to a statement, the complaint was sent to the Florida Bar Association via mail. “In so doing, Miami-Dade Democratic Party has taken action to hold one of President Trump’s top defenders accountable for violating legal ethics by risking American’s national security to ‘grandstand’ in Congress,” the statement read....

This won’t be the only busy holiday weekend that AEW attempts to make its mark. While a great card has already been announced on the ‘Road to AEW on TNT’ series that All Elite Wrestling has shown us on YouTube, that may only be the tip of the iceberg, quite honestly. I have a feeling that there are many more surprises that we aren’t privy to yet, that Cody Rhodes is yet to reveal to the world. So, what are these surprises, you ask? With an already stacked card announced with Jon Moxley and MJF making appearances, Lance Archer going up against the Nightmare Family representative QT Marshall and a tag team main event that features the AEW in-ring debut of Matt Hardy, AEW Dynamite had a lot to live up to. Not only did they do so, they perhaps even surpassed expectations. AEW Dynamite has been an incredibly consistent show since debuting in October last year but, even with that being said, this show will be remembered as being a stand out highlight....

AEW is an altogether different product to WWE, and prioritizes fans of wrestling rather than the spectacle and pleasing viewers of all ages. It’s for those who want their chosen wrestling show to be more edgy, and so anticipation is high for AEW Fight Forever to continue the trend in the video game space. However, it’s apparent that WWE 2K has laid impressive groundwork for wrestling-centric titles to draw inspiration from, but as AEW Fight Forever’s release date inches closer, its best course of action is probably to do its best to avoid comparisons to Visual Concepts’ crowning franchise....

Following his incredible victory over Hiroshi Tanahashi, the newly crowned IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion called out Punk in his post-match backstage interview. During the backstage interview, KENTA said that he wants to entertain the fans and give them hope. The Bullet Club star went on to call out CM Punk and claimed that he’s ready to put the AEW star to sleep. KENTA and Punk have never shared the ring....

It has previously been reported that Jeff Hardy wished to reunite with his brother possibly at AEW. The Hardy Boyz are arguably the most popular tag team from the Attitude Era. The brothers revolutionized tag team wrestling with their series of TLC matches in WWE. The Young Bucks have walked in their footsteps. The Jackson brothers are also known for their ground-breaking high-flying maneuvers in tag team wrestling. It would be interesting to see the blood brothers from different eras square off on a grand stage like AEW....
